Norway to send two F-16 fighters to Denmark to train Ukrainian pilots
Norway will send two F-16 fighter jets to Denmark to contribute to the training of Ukrainian pilots in the use of American-made aircraft, announced Norwegian Minister of Defense Bjoern Arild Gram.
According to him, Norway has already sent 10 instructors to Denmark to assist in the training of Ukrainian pilots.
Last year, Norway declared its commitment to join Denmark, the Netherlands, and other countries in providing aircraft to Ukraine.
Norwegian Air Force has replaced its own F-16s with the new F-35s.
F-16s for Ukraine
In 2023, Western allies of Ukraine formed an aviation coalition to transfer modern fighter jets, including F-16s, to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. As part of this coalition, Ukraine is set to receive at least 61 aircraft from Denmark and the Netherlands.
In early November, the Netherlands sent the first five F-16 fighter jets to Romania for the training of Ukrainian pilots, establishing a specialized center. At the end of December, the first group of Ukrainian pilots began training on F-16s in Denmark.
By the end of December 2023, the American publication Newsweek reported that the first F-16 aircraft had likely arrived in Ukraine. However, this information has not been confirmed by the Ukrainian Air Force.
