Norway’s capital airport closed after drone sightings

On the night of September 23, Oslo’s Gardermoen Airport in Norway was completely closed after unidentified drones were detected, according to Verdens Gang and Aftonbladet.
Media reports indicate that the first sightings of drones over the airport occurred at 11:30 p.m. local time. Afterward, all air traffic was redirected to a single runway.
Over an hour later, another drone was spotted in the air. Until that moment, the airport remained fully closed to arrivals and departures.
“The airspace over Oslo Airport is closed due to the appearance of a new drone,” said Monica Fasting, Communications Manager at Gardermoen Airport.
According to Fasting, the airport closure affected 12 to 14 flights. She added that there is no exact time for reopening the airspace and advised morning passengers to follow updates from their airlines.
“We hope to reopen the airspace by then, so those departing tomorrow morning should treat their flight as scheduled and coordinate with their airline,” Fasting stated.
