Northern Iran rocked by powerful earthquake

A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck northern Iran, with the epicenter recorded near the city of Shahrud. Authorities are currently assessing the situation; so far, there have been no reports of casualties or damage, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre.
The powerful 5.2-magnitude quake occurred in northern Iran.
Its epicenter was located approximately 44 km northwest of Shahrud (population around 131,000), at a depth of about 7 km.
As of now, there have been no reports of casualties or damage. Authorities and local services continue to monitor the situation and assess the impact of the earthquake in the settlements near the epicenter.

Earthquakes in Ukraine
Ukraine experiences occasional minor earthquakes, mostly in the Carpathian region. One such event occurred on May 31, 2025, when the Main Center for Special Control recorded two underground tremors in Zakarpattia.
Both earthquakes had a magnitude of about 2.0 on the Richter scale and occurred at a depth of 5 km. The epicenter was located near a village in the Bohdan community of the Rakhiv district.
Earlier, in March of the same year, seismic activity was also observed in the Ternopil region.
Additionally, on February 1, residents of Poltava reported feeling noticeable tremors on the upper floors of buildings via social media. The Main Center for Special Control confirmed that an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.67 occurred near Poltava.
