North Korean hackers attacked Diehl Defense, a company that manufactures Iris-T air defense systems, Spiegel informs.

According to the news agency, the hackers used fake job offers from supposed American arms suppliers. Employees who clicked on the malicious PDF file inadvertently infected their computers with malware, allowing the hackers to spy on them.

The hackers concealed the attack server under the name Uberlingen, which is the location of Diehl Defense. The server also contained authentic-looking login pages in German, resembling those of Telekom and the email provider GMX.

The hackers likely aimed to obtain the login credentials of German users. They carefully studied the situation in Germany before launching the attack on the company.

In May of this year, a fire broke out at a Diehl company warehouse in Berlin. According to media reports, the fire supposedly did not threaten the production pace of anti-aircraft missile systems.

It was also reported that on May 3, due to the fire at the factory in Berlin, part of the city was covered in toxic smoke.
