North Korea invades Europe alongside Russia: Foreign Minister appeals to partners with a call to action
North Korea is effectively invading Europe as it plans to send soldiers to fight in the war against Ukraine. A tough response from Western countries is required, according to Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, on Twitter (X).
He reminded that North Korea is helping Russia conduct the war against Ukraine with its weapons and troops. This is not about mercenaries, but regular forces that will be used as cannon fodder.
"The Euro-Atlantic community must wake up to the fact that DPRK invades Europe alongside Russia and act without delay. Russia scales up its war. We require an immediate and strong reaction from the Euro-Atlantic community and the world," the minister emphasized.
He added that the best response from the West would be full support and implementation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's victory plan.
According to Sybiha, as Russia expands the scale of the war, Ukraine's allies must increase military assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In particular, this includes:
- Removing restrictions on long-range strikes;
- Beginning the interception of Russian missiles and drones over Ukraine;
- Expanding NATO invitations;
- Increasing investments in weapons production in Ukraine.
North Korean assistance to Russia
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that North Korea is helping Russia not only with weapons but also with personnel.
Later, the head of the Ukrainian state clarified that North Korea is preparing a contingent for the war against Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the head of Ukraine's Defense Intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov, noted today, October 18, that in November, around 11,000 North Korean soldiers will be fighting against Ukraine.
