North Korea cynically calls NATO summit declaration 'illegal' and threatens West
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of North Korea has labeled the NATO summit declaration, in which Ukraine's allies condemned North Korea's transfer of weapons to Russia, as an "illegal document." Additionally, Pyongyang has threatened Washington and its allies with "strategic counteraction," according to the statement of the North Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs published by the North Korean state news agency KCNA.
"The "Washington Summit Declaration", cooked up and made public on July 10, goes to prove that the U.S. and NATO, reduced to a tool for its confrontation, pose the most serious threat to the global peace and security," according to the North Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The department "strongly denounces and rejects the declaration," labeling it a so-called "illegal document" that allegedly "violates the legitimate rights of independent sovereign states, and a confrontational program that incites new Cold War and military confrontation on a global scale."
"The US moves to expand military blocs are the vicious root cause of seriously threatening the regional peace, extremely exacerbating the international security environment and sparking off worldwide arms race. Before shifting on to other countries the responsibility for the deteriorated security in the Europe-Atlantic, the US will have to clarify who has constantly destroyed the security environment in Europe for the past decades through NATO's reckless policy for eastward advance and expansion," speculated the DPRK.
They also "solemnly warned" that "NATO's strategy for "globalization", pursued by the US, may certainly bring the danger of a worldwide war."
"The Democratic People's Republic of Korea will never overlook or avoid the looming grave threat but thoroughly deter the aggression and war threat with stronger level of strategic counteraction and defend peace and security in the region and the rest of the world," cynically added Pyongyang.
NATO summit declaration
Following the NATO Summit held from July 9th to 11th in Washington, Alliance member countries adopted a concluding declaration. Among other things, it mentions countries that contribute to Russian aggression against Ukraine, including North Korea.
As known, North Korea actively manufactures weapons for Russia and supplies them to Russians. According to calculations by South Korea, Pyongyang has sent containers to Moscow capable of holding nearly 5 million artillery shells.
Additionally, during attacks on Ukraine, occupiers use, among other things, North Korean ballistic missiles.
Moreover, recent reports in the media indicate that Pyongyang intends to send its construction and engineering forces to the occupied areas of Donetsk region to support Russian occupiers. This was reported separately by RBC-Ukraine.
