North Korea has condemned US President Donald Trump's recent executive order easing arms exports. Pyongyang called the decision measures to escalate the war, according to Reuters.

"On one hand, the US is pretending to be a 'mediator' by recommending dialogue and negotiation, while on the other hand, it is continuously handing over all kinds of weapons of mass destruction to encourage warmongers to further expand and prolong the war," reads an anonymous comment from the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

What it’s about

It refers to an executive order signed by Donald Trump on April 9, 2025, aimed at easing the export of American weapons. The order initiates a review of foreign arms trade regulations to speed up the approval of deals and expand opportunities for US defense companies.

In February, the Trump administration revoked the National Security Memorandum (NSM-20), which had previously required US foreign partners to provide written assurances that the American weapons they receive would not be used in violation of international humanitarian law.

Weapons exports from North Korea

A few days ago, it was revealed that over the past 18 months, North Korea has sent more than ten thousand containers of ammunition to Russia. In doing so, the country has become a significant supplier of weaponry for Moscow's war against Ukraine.

It was also reported that North Korea has earned over $20 billion from supporting Russia in the war. Such collaboration between two dictators poses a serious threat, according to experts.
