Next week, the announcement of the Nobel Prize winners for 2024, who have contributed to improving the world, will begin. The announcements will take place from October 7 to October 14, according to the press service of the Nobel Committee.

The most discussed award is the Peace Prize, which will be presented on October 11. However, predicting the choice of the Norwegian Nobel Committee this year is extremely difficult.

Some experts, such as Dan Smith, director of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, suggest that the Peace Prize may not be awarded this year to draw attention to the failures in resolving global conflicts.

Last year, the Peace Prize was awarded to Iranian human rights activist Narges Mohammadi, and this year, organizations such as the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), the Palestinian group Al-Haq, the Israeli organization B'Tselem, the International Court of Justice, and UN Secretary-General António Guterres are among the contenders. A campaign to stop "killer robots" is also considered a potential candidate for the prize.

Here is the schedule for the announcement of the Nobel Prizes:

  • Physiology and medicine – October 7, no earlier than 12:30 PM, Nobel Forum, Solna.
  • Physics – October 8, no earlier than 12:45 PM, Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, Stockholm.
  • Chemistry – October 9, no earlier than 12:45 PM, Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, Stockholm.
  • Literature – October 10, no earlier than 2:00 PM, Swedish Academy, Stockholm.
  • Peace prize – October 11, 12:00 PM, Norwegian Nobel Committee, Oslo.
  • Economics – October 14, no earlier than 12:45 PM, Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, Stockholm.

The Nobel Peace Prize is one of the most prestigious global awards, given annually for outstanding achievements in promoting peace. It was established by Alfred Nobel in the late 19th century.

The prize is awarded to both individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to resolving international conflicts, advancing human rights, disarmament, and other areas that promote peace.
