Nearly three thousand customers have been left without electricity in the Nizhyn district, Chernihiv region, according to Chernihivoblenergo.

As a result of a strike on an energy facility in the Nizhyn district, 2,700 customers remain without power.

Energy workers have been working intensively to repair the damage since the evening of October 19, but the destruction is extensive.

“We are doing everything possible to restore power to our customers as quickly as we can, though it is not easy. Once again, we remind everyone to maintain information silence and take personal safety measures! Take care of yourselves!” — stated Chernihivoblenergo.

Power outage schedules will be in effect on Monday, October 20, from 06:00 to 22:00 across Ukraine. For now, they do not apply to household consumers, according to Ukrenergo, but the situation may change.

The company explained that the restrictions are due to the consequences of previous Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure.

Power outages

On Friday, October 17, Ukraine implemented hourly electricity outage schedules following a large-scale Russian strike the previous day. The outages were announced to take place from 07:00 to 22:00.

On the same day, it became clear that due to the difficult situation in the energy system, emergency power cuts were introduced in Kyiv, Kyiv region, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, Zaporizhzhia, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, and partially in Chernihiv, Khmelnytskyi, and Vinnytsia regions.

Recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that electricity problems could continue in the future amid new Russian attacks.

Over the past few weeks, Russian forces have carried out a series of strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
