A nine-story residential building caught fire in Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi district in the evening. The emergency was caused by a Russian attack on the capital, according to statements by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and the Kyiv City Military Administration.

At 6:56 p.m. Kyiv time, an air raid alert was issued in Kyiv amid a drone attack.

According to preliminary information from the Kyiv City Military Administration, a nine-story residential building was damaged in the Holosiivskyi district as a result of the attack.

Later, Klitschko said a fire broke out in the building, affecting floors four through nine.

"Emergency services are heading to the scene," he added.

Klitschko later said the ninth floor of the apartment building was damaged.

"Fifteen people were evacuated from the building. Emergency services are working at the scene," he said.

The Kyiv City Military Administration reported that one person was killed in the enemy attack.

"Services are working to deal with the aftermath," the statement said.

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that on September 3, Russian forces attacked Kyiv with drones. Debris from an enemy drone fell onto a road.

On September 2, Russian forces attacked Kyiv, and a fire broke out in the capital following the strike. Rescuers extinguished the blaze in the Holosiivskyi district.

In addition, Russian forces attacked a warehouse building in Kyiv with drones the previous day.
