Night attack by Shaheds. General Staff reports on downed Russian drones
The Air Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have destroyed all Shahed kamikaze drones launched by Russian occupiers during the latest nighttime aerial attack, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In the morning summary at the military headquarters, it was noted that the enemy had used 10 combat drones for an attack on the evening of Tuesday, February 27.
"At the end of the past day, Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine using 10 Shahed-type UAVs. The Ukrainian Air Defense Forces destroyed all 10 UAVs," the military statement said.
In turn, the press service of the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine stated that the enemy directed 10 combat drones from the Black Sea waters toward the Mykolaiv and Odesa regions.
Repelling an air attack
"Over 1.5 hours, air defense units repelled this attack in an intensive mode," the defenders said.
It is noted that the vast majority of the Shahed drones were shot down over the sea:
- 1 - in the Mykolaiv region,
- 9 - in the Odesa region.
Consequences of debris falling in Odesa
Furthermore, it is noted that during the maneuvers of the drones over the industrial zone of Odesa, debris from the downed Shahed damaged a transformer at one of the critical infrastructure facilities.
"There was a short circuit and a fire. Firefighters promptly extinguished the fire. No one was injured," the military reported.
Not only Shaheds but also missiles
In addition to the Shahed drones, the Ukrainian Air Force command later clarified that the Russians also launched S-300 surface-to-air guided missiles across Ukraine that night.
Overall, during the night of February 28, the enemy attacked with S-300 guided missiles from the occupied Donetsk region and with 10 Shahed UAVs from the area of Russian-occupied Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
"As a result of the air battle, 10 Shahed drones were destroyed within the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions by mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces and anti-aircraft missile units of the Air Force," the sky defenders reported.

Russian air attack on Ukraine
Earlier, it was reported that Russian forces once again launched Shahed kamikaze drones over Ukraine on the evening of February 27. Around 22:50 in Odesa, explosions were heard, and local authorities urged residents to take cover, not to film or post anti-aircraft defense work on social media, and to observe information silence.
Later, it became known that in Odesa, as a result of falling debris from a downed enemy kamikaze drone by the Ukrainian Air Defense Forces, there was a short circuit in the power grid of a critical infrastructure object, causing a fire that was promptly extinguished.
