Today, September 24, the Crimean Platform summit is being held in New York. World leaders and representatives of international organizations are participating, according to the Office of the President of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

According to the MFA, the summit takes place in the year marking the 80th anniversary of the UN, within the framework of the General Assembly. Participants include world leaders, representatives of international organizations, parliaments, expert communities, and civil society. The main topics for discussion are concrete steps to restore Ukraine’s territorial integrity and achieve a just peace based on the UN Charter.

Participants will also discuss the role of the UN General Assembly in protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, its resolutions addressing Russian aggression, security challenges in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov regions, the human rights situation in occupied Crimea, and international efforts for its de-occupation.

The Crimean platform was established by Ukraine in 2021 as an international mechanism aimed at coordinating responses to Russian aggression, increasing international pressure on the Kremlin, and promoting the de-occupation of Crimea.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine announced the fifth Crimean Platform summit on September 17.

As noted by MFA spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi, holding the summit during the UN General Assembly high-level week is a "new element." According to him, this is highly symbolic because restoring Ukraine’s territorial integrity will also restore respect for the UN Charter.
