'New Year's cyber gift': IT Army halts operation of payment terminals in Russia
The Ukrainian IT Army has halted the operation of payment terminals in the Russian Federation. The largest manufacturer of online cash registers, Evotor, has not been working since yesterday, according to the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
"The attempt by Russians to pay for New Year's gifts electronically is turning into a failure," the ministry reported.
According to the ministry, the New Year "prime time" in Russia has become a real collapse.
"Russians cannot pay by card at the cash registers of stores, cafes, hair salons, or any other businesses that use payment terminals. This can cause serious damage to the aggressor's economy," added the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
Russian websites under cyberattacks
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukrainian IT specialists have been targeting the websites of major Russian banks and government institutions. The websites of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Roskomnadzor, and Rosaviatsia were brought down. Large and state-controlled (propagandistic) media outlets also ceased operations due to "hacker" attacks.
Recently, the Ukrainian IT army disrupted the operation of major airports in Russia. Propagandistic media claimed it was a DDoS attack.
