The United States is proposing a new trilateral technical-level meeting with Ukraine and Russia in late October, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a briefing with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Kyiv.
The head of state noted that he could not provide a detailed assessment of the ongoing negotiations but confirmed that contacts between the sides continue.
"The American side is in contact with both Ukraine and Russia today," the president said.
According to him, Washington proposes a trilateral meeting at the technical level in late October. The meeting could be held in the United Arab Emirates or another country proposed by the US side.
At the same time, Zelenskyy said he did not have exact information on whether Russia had received the proposal.
"I know that they will make the proposal to the Russian side, or may have already done so. I don't know the specific details," he noted.
The president emphasized that Ukraine welcomes another meeting and is ready to wait for Moscow's response.
"And we will wait for their response. We are positive about negotiations," Zelenskyy concluded.
As reported in September, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that talks between Ukraine and Russia could resume in the coming weeks.
Later, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the United States planned to hold new consultations with Russia and other partners on possible formats for future negotiations.
