Russian forces used updated tactics during a nighttime strike on Ukraine and deployed missiles manufactured in 2026, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"I held a special energy coordination meeting. All government officials involved in addressing the aftermath were present, along with regional authorities, the military, and representatives of the energy sector. Restoration work has already begun in all regions that were hit," Zelenskyy said.

Russian forces launched hundreds of drones and multiple types of missiles at Ukraine overnight on January 20, including Zircon hypersonic missiles, S-300 systems, and Iskander missiles. The main direction of the strike was the Kyiv region, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
