New details emerge on CIA chief's secret Moscow visit

Russian president Vladimir Putin has already been briefed on the results of CIA Director John Ratcliffe's visit to Moscow, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
Peskov says the CIA director met with representatives of Russian intelligence agencies, but he did not specify which ones.
"I can tell you that there were no meetings with the president of Russia (Vladimir Putin - ed.). That is all I can say about this," the Kremlin spokesman said.
He added that Putin is immediately briefed on all details of contacts with Ratcliffe.
Peskov assured that contacts between the intelligence agencies are a "positive development." The Russian spokesman noted that dialogue between the countries at this level continues even during the most difficult periods of bilateral relations.
"But it is too early to say how this will affect the way out of the deep crisis in which our bilateral relations find themselves," the Kremlin spokesman added.
Peskov refused to disclose the main topics of the talks between the CIA director and Russian intelligence agencies.
CIA director's visit to Moscow
On August 25, an American military Boeing C-17 Globemaster III aircraft landed in the Russian capital.
That same day, it became known that CIA Director John Ratcliffe had arrived in Moscow.
A source told RBC-Ukraine that the United States asked Ukraine not to strike the Russian capital in the coming days due to the visit of a high-ranking US delegation.
The CIA director's visit may be related to the fact that the United States received intelligence about Russia's early preparations for mobilization and plans to test NATO's resolve.
In a comment to RBC-Ukraine, political analyst Volodymyr Fesenko explained why CIA Director Ratcliffe may have secretly traveled to Moscow.
