New British Foreign Secretary calls for ceasefire in Middle East
The new British Foreign Secretary, David Lammy, traveled to the Middle East to push for the release of hostages and an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, according to Reuters.
According to the British Foreign Office, on Sunday, Lammy is meeting in Israel with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas to discuss "a credible and irreversible pathway towards a two-state solution."
He will also raise the issue of 680 tons of British humanitarian aid awaiting entry into Gaza.
"The death and destruction in Gaza is intolerable. This war must end now, with an immediate ceasefire, complied with by both sides," said David Lammy.
Reuters notes that the Labor Party, which won the election in early July, has stated that long-term peace and security in the Middle East will be the focus of attention.
The IDF confirmed the elimination of Hamas's Khan Younis Brigade commander Rafaa Salameh, who was one of the organizers of the terrorist organization's attack on Israel on October 7. He was killed in a strike in the southern Gaza Strip on July 13.
Muhammad Deif, the head of the terrorist group's military wing, may also have been killed in the attack. However, there is no confirmation of this yet.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that 90 Palestinians were killed in Israel's attempt to eliminate the Hamas commander in Gaza.
