What body problem is very common during the Christmas holidays
In a recent video that has received over 1.5 million views and 26 thousand likes, he said there is one common health problem that people are likely to face this Christmas.
And why it's important to get checked out before it's too late.
“This is a common gut symptom you should never ignore,” the 42-year-old doctor begins.
Dr. Sethi explains that he recently treated a patient with chronic heartburn who developed esophageal cancer.
According to the doctor, heartburn occurs when the lower esophageal sphincter, which should close after eating, remains open. This causes reflux of stomach acid back into the food.
Over time, this can lead to a precancerous condition called Barrett's, which can potentially lead to esophageal cancer. The doctor advises that if you have occasional heartburn, try sleeping on the left side of your body and having dinner at least four hours before bedtime.
The doctor also advises eating unsweetened fennel seeds after meals to avoid this pain.
“If you have chronic heartburn, consult your doctor. Especially if you are experiencing difficulty swallowing or a sensation of food getting stuck.” he said.
