Netherlands to buy €42 million in drones for Ukraine
The Netherlands will purchase a batch of drones for Ukraine. The contract amount is €42.6 million, reports the press service of the Netherlands Ministry of Defence.
It is noted that this is the first purchase by the Netherlands within the drone coalition. The Dutch company DeltaQuad will supply advanced Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR) drones to Ukraine.
ISR drones can fly for extended periods and cover great distances, serving as scouts to gather real-time information from the battlefield, collect intelligence, and conduct surveillance.
The Ministry of Defence reminds that €400 million has been allocated for the implementation of the drone action plan, with over half of that amount dedicated to the Dutch industry. The purchase from DeltaQuad is part of these funds.
The ministry added that, for security reasons, information about the type of drones, the quantity, and delivery schedules will not be disclosed.
Netherlands' assistance
The Netherlands has provided military aid to Ukraine, including armored vehicles, tanks, ammunition, drones, and F-16 fighters. The country has also announced the transfer of the Patriot air defense system to Ukraine.
Amsterdam is leading the aviation coalition. The Dutch have not only supplied aircraft but also participated in training Ukrainian pilots.
Recently, the Dutch Defence Minister stated that Ukraine could use the received F-16s to strike Russian territory without restrictions, but within the framework of international law.
