The Netherlands is delivering 25 armored tracked YPR vehicles to Ukraine. They will be used for medical evacuation, according to the Dutch Ministry of Defense.

"The Netherlands is donating 25 armored tracked YPR vehicles to Ukraine for medical evacuation. More than 50 countries have gathered here to coordinate military support for Ukraine. The UDCG (Ramstein, Ukraine Defense Contact Group – ed.) took place in Brussels and was chaired by the United Kingdom for the first time," the statement reads.

The Netherlands has allocated over €10 billion in military aid to Ukraine, of which approximately €6 billion has already been delivered.

"Especially now, when Ukrainians are facing difficulties on the front lines, we must continue our support. Peace against Russia is only possible through military strength," said Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans.

The minister also announced that the Netherlands has delivered the last promised T-72 battle tanks to Ukraine. These tanks were provided jointly with Czechia and the United States.

Additionally, Ukraine recently purchased a new batch of Dutch F-16s. For operational reasons, the Ministry of Defense has not disclosed the exact number of aircraft already delivered.

What is known about the YPR

It became known in May 2022 that Ukraine was using Dutch YPR-765 infantry fighting vehicles on the front lines. These vehicles are based on the American M113A1 APC. At one time, the Netherlands acquired nearly 900 of these machines.

According to open sources, the YPR-765 is a Dutch tracked armored personnel carrier that functions as a light infantry fighting vehicle. It is based on the AIFV design developed by FMC Corporation.

The YPR-765 replaced the AMX-VCI and YP-408 in the Royal Netherlands Army and entered service in 1977. Later, the Dutch YPR-765s were replaced by CV90, Fennek, and Boxer vehicles.

Aid to Ukraine

Germany has announced the delivery of around 100 IRIS-T missiles to Ukraine. Germany will continue to support Ukraine.

Additionally, the United Kingdom has announced a new military aid package for Ukraine, which will include tanks, artillery, and various types of missiles.
