Netanyahu undergoes successful prostate surgery: Details
On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu successfully underwent prostate surgery. He has since regained consciousness after anesthesia and is recovering, reports The Times of Israel.
"The surgery ended successfully without complications. The prime minister has woken up, is in good condition, and is completely conscious," said the Prime Minister’s office.
The statement also mentioned that Netanyahu was transferred to an underground fortified rehabilitation unit, where he is expected to spend several days under supervision.
The Israeli Prime Minister thanked the surgical team who performed the operation.
In a separate statement, Professor Ofer Gofrit, head of the urology department at the hospital, also confirmed and said, "The procedure went as planned."
As a reminder, on Wednesday, Netanyahu underwent an examination at the Hadassah Hospital. An infection was detected during the examination, "stemming from a benign enlargement of his prostate."
Since anesthesia was required for the surgery, it was decided that the Israeli Prime Minister would stay in the hospital afterward. During his absence, Justice Minister Yariv Levin serves as acting Prime Minister.
