Netanyahu has surgery on Sunday: Details
The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, will postpone his surgery today. He is scheduled to undergo prostate removal after being diagnosed with a urinary tract infection earlier this week, reports The New York Times.
In a statement from Netanyahu's office, it was reported that the 75-year-old official was examined at the Hadassah Hospital on Wednesday. He was diagnosed with an infection caused by benign prostate enlargement. It was also noted that the prime minister had been successfully treated with antibiotics over the past few days.
The complications due to the enlarged gland followed a series of other health issues. In March, Netanyahu underwent surgery for a hernia while his government faced international criticism over Israel's actions in the Gaza war.
In 2023, the prime minister was unexpectedly hospitalized and had a pacemaker implanted after fainting, which revealed a heart rhythm disorder.
Additionally, in 2013, Netanyahu also underwent surgery to remove a hernia.
