Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during a meeting with US President Donald Trump, spoke with Qatar’s Prime Minister Mohammed al-Thani, according to the Prime Minister.

Netanyahu expressed regret over the death of a Qatari citizen caused by an Israeli airstrike on Doha.

"I want to assure you that Israel was targeting Hamas, not Qataris. I also want to assure you that Israel has no plan to violate your sovereignty again in the future, and I have made that commitment to the president (Trump - ed.)," Netanyahu emphasized.

According to the Israeli Prime Minister, he is aware that Qatar has grievances against Israel, and Israel has grievances against Qatar, "from support for the Muslim Brotherhood to how Israel is portrayed on Al Jazeera to support for anti-Israel sentiment on college campuses."

Netanyahu added that he welcomes Trump’s idea of forming a trilateral group to address the remaining issues between the two countries.

Israel’s strike on Doha

On September 9, the Israel Defense Forces carried out missile strikes on Doha.

The IDF stated that the target of the attack was Hamas leadership. Among those killed was Khalil al-Hayya, the exiled head of Gaza and a key negotiator.

Qatar called the attack a threat to the safety of its citizens and residents.
