NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte spoke with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. This is their first conversation after the appointment of the head of the State Department, according to Rutte's X.

"Good call from Davos with new Secretary of State Marco Rubio - great to have you on board!" he stated.

Rutte said he looks forward to welcoming Rubio to NATO and “working together on Ukraine, Russia, China.”

"Ramping up defense spending in Europe and boosting transatlantic defense production makes us all stronger," NATO Secretary General noted.

Appointment of Marco Rubio

Marco Rubio became the new US Secretary of State after Donald Trump officially took office as the 47th President of the United States on January 20.

A day earlier, Rubio even managed to make one of his first statements. According to him, negotiations to end the war between Russia and Ukraine will not be held in public. The United States should play its role.
