NATO members fear Biden won't be able to beat Trump
NATO leaders fear that US President Joe Biden will not be able to defeat his opponent Donald Trump, states Politico.
“We’re not sure that, even if he wins, he can survive four years more,” said one official from a European NATO country.
According to the newspaper, NATO allies are quietly wondering how long President Biden will be able to provide American support for Europe's defense.
Diplomats and world leaders preparing for next week's NATO summit are privately expressing acute concerns about Biden's age, health, and ability to win the 2024 presidential election.
Overall, foreign officials are largely in favor of Biden's re-election and fear that a return to power by former US President Trump would damage the NATO alliance and undermine the military effort in Ukraine.
They also reacted to Biden's recent debate performance with alarm and fear that Biden may be too weak to defeat Trump and lead the world's superpower.
"It doesn’t take a genius to see that the president is old. We’re not sure that, even if he wins, he can survive four years more," said one official from a European NATO country.
Biden and Trump's confrontation
Recently, the United States hosted a debate between former US President Donald Trump and current President Joe Biden.
RBC-Ukraine prepared an article detailing what the opponents talked about and what the consequences might be.
After the debate, the White House said it was a "bad night" for Biden, but emphasized that he could still run. Despite the fact that Biden himself had doubts about running for some time, his family still urged him to stay in the race.
According to Bloomberg, Biden is closing the gap with US presidential candidate Trump in key states necessary to win the election.
