NASA’s satellite system has once again detected fire hotspots in the waters of the Sea of Azov. A fire was also detected at the Kavkaz railway station in the Krasnodar Krai, according to the Exilenova+ Telegram channel.

What satellites detected

According to data from NASA’s FIRMS satellite monitoring system, thermal anomalies indicating fires have reappeared in the waters of the Sea of Azov.

This data may point to new attacks on tankers belonging to Russia’s so-called shadow fleet, which is used to transport oil in circumvention of international restrictions.

Satellite images confirm the emergence of new fire hotspots in an area where attacks on Russian vessels have previously been recorded.

Logistics under attack

In addition to the fires in the Sea of Azov, the NASA FIRMS system detected a fire at the Kavkaz railway station in the Krasnodar Krai.

This transportation hub plays a key role in Russia’s logistics, facilitating shipments to the temporarily occupied Crimea. Railway routes used to supply the peninsula pass through it.

There have been no official comments from the Russian side regarding the causes of the fires or possible damage to facilities.

On the evening of July 12, Russian troops attacked the Odesa region with strike drones. In the Odesa district, a high-rise residential building and a commercial facility were damaged by the attack. Fires broke out at the sites but were quickly extinguished, and information regarding possible casualties was being verified at that time.
