Musk proposes introducing fee for Twitter posts
Twitter owner Elon Musk has proposed introducing a small fee for the right to publish the first post for new users, according to Elon Musk's Twitter.
According to him, this could solve the problem of a large number of bots and trolls on the social network.
He also noted that modern AI bots easily bypass built-in checks designed to determine whether a human or AI is using the account.
"Unfortunately, a small fee for new user write access is the only way to curb the relentless onslaught of bots," Musk wrote.
In October 2023, the social network already introduced a fee for new unverified users from New Zealand and the Philippines in the amount of one dollar. At that time, users had to pay to repost, send messages, or respond to posts.
New features on Twitter
After Elon Musk acquired the social network Twitter, a large number of new features appeared on it. For example, developers decided to remove the ability to block users.
Twitter engineers also intend to allow hiding likes, but the feature will only be available to paid users. Moreover, in the future, the social network may stop showing the number of likes and reposts that users receive. According to Musk, displaying likes and reposts under posts makes the platform messy.
