American billionaire and founder of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, has likely decided to suspend plans to create a new political party, reports The Wall Street Journal.

The entrepreneur canceled a scheduled meeting with a group specializing in organizing campaigns for political forces in the United States. The reason was allegedly Musk’s desire to focus on managing his own companies.

Musk told allies that he wants to focus on his companies and does not want to alienate influential Republicans by creating a third party that could draw votes away from the Republican Party, WSJ wrote.

About Musk’s political party

On July 5, Musk announced the creation of his own political party, which he called “American.” He stated that his political force would be in opposition to Donald Trump’s Republican Party.

According to the billionaire’s plans, the new political force was supposed to compete for 2–3 seats in the US Senate and 8–10 seats in the House of Representatives.

These initiatives emerged against the backdrop of the businessman’s conflict with President Donald Trump. Musk publicly accused the head of state of ties to the Jeffrey Epstein case, to which Trump responded by threatening to cut federal funding for the billionaire’s projects.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that Elon Musk should manage his companies instead of getting into politics.
