Musk calls Scholz a fool. German government responds
Billionaire Elon Musk called German Chancellor Olaf Scholz a fool. This sparked a response from the German government, Spiegel reports.
What Musk said
Elon Musk commented on the collapse of the Traffic light coalition (which consisted of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, the Free Democratic Party, and the Green Party) on his social media platform Twitter (X).
"Olaf is a fool," the billionaire wrote.
Reaction of the German government
The statement from Elon Musk was met with a response from the deputy press secretary of the German government, Christiane Hoffmann.
"On X, you have a freedom to act like a fool" she emphasized.
Hoffmann also justified the government's continued presence on Twitter (X), explaining that social media is an important tool for the federal government to clarify and disseminate information about its work.
It is worth noting that when Musk became the owner of Twitter (X), the social network essentially became a platform for extremists, as the billionaire decided to unblock them.
Collapse of the coalition in Germany
Earlier, the ruling coalition in Germany collapsed. This happened after Olaf Scholz decided to dismiss Finance Minister Christian Lindner, a member of the Free Democratic Party (FDP).
After Lindner, all ministers from the FDP were dismissed. On November 8, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier handed them their dismissal certificates.
