German President officially dismisses three ministers
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has announced insurmountable disagreements within the government. He has issued dismissal certificates to three ministers from the Free Democratic Party, citing Spiegel.
The dismissal certificates were given to the former:
- Finance Minister Christian Lindner,
- Minister of Education and Research Bettina Stark-Watzinger,
- Minister of Justice and Consumer Protection Marco Buschmann.
These personnel changes in the German government are the result of a coalition breakdown that took place last night.
Chancellor Olaf Scholz dismissed Finance Minister Christian Lindner last evening, November 6. Following this, the ruling coalition in Germany collapsed as the entire Free Democratic Party decided to exit after Lindner’s dismissal.
More details on the coalition breakdown can be found in the RBC-Ukraine report.
Notably, Lindner criticized Scholz today after being dismissed from the government, claiming that Scholz allegedly obstructed support for Ukraine.
