Late in the evening on July 24, the Starlink satellite communication system experienced an outage. Billionaire and owner Elon Musk issued an apology, according to his post on the social media platform X.

“Service will be restored shortly. Sorry for the outage. SpaceX will remedy root cause to ensure it doesn’t happen again,” Musk wrote.

What preceded this

On the evening of Thursday, July 24, reports began surfacing online about issues with Starlink terminals. Interruptions were also observed on the front lines in Ukraine.

The first to report the issue in Ukraine was Robert Brovdi, Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, who wrote that Starlink was down across the entire frontline.

This information was later confirmed by Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation. The outage was also reflected on Downdetector, and shortly afterward, the company itself acknowledged the service disruption with Starlink.
