Multiple Houthi leaders killed after US strikes, Waltz says

Yesterday, the US launched extensive airstrikes against the Houthis in Yemen in response to their attacks on ships in the Red Sea. The strikes targeted and ultimately killed multiple leaders of the Iran-backed Houthi movement, informs ABC News, citing US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz.
A White House spokesperson noted that these recent strikes differ from the countless ones carried out during the administration of former US President Joe Biden.
"This was an overwhelming response that actually targeted multiple Houthi leaders and took them out. And the difference here is, one, going after the Houthi leadership, and two, holding Iran responsible," Waltz said.
As a reminder, Houthi representative Nasr el-Din Amer responded to the airstrikes. He stated that the group would retaliate with even greater escalation.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Iran also responded to Washington's actions. According to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander, Hossein Salami, the Houthis act independently and make their own strategic and military decisions.
"We warn our enemies that Iran will respond decisively and destructively if they take their threats into action," he added in a comment to state media.
