In Poland, an overwhelming majority of citizens rejected Donald Trump’s suggestion that the Russian strike was accidental. Politicians described the incident as a deliberate act by Moscow, ONET reports.

Most Poles do not believe that the intrusion of Russian drones on the night of September 10 was accidental. As many as 81.7% of respondents dismiss such a possibility, while only 10.6% agree with US President Donald Trump’s assumption that it could have been unintentional.

The remaining 7.7% of those surveyed could not answer. Trump’s statement, suggesting that the incident may have been a mistake, drew sharp criticism in Poland.

Reaction of Polish politicians

Deputy Prime Minister Radosław Sikorski and Law and Justice party leader Jarosław Kaczyński firmly rejected such an interpretation.

“No, it wasn't a mistake,” Sikorski stressed.

Both politicians stated that Moscow acts deliberately and methodically.

Differences among voters

The IBRiS poll revealed differences in how supporters of various parties perceive the incident. The largest share of those accepting the “accidental” version was found among voters of Confederation (18%), Civic Coalition (17%), and New Left (17%).

The most skeptical were Law and Justice supporters: only 4% of them admitted that the drone intrusion could have been unintentional.

Poll details

The survey was conducted by the Institute for Social Research and Market (IBRiS) using the CATI telephone interview method on September 13-14, 2025, with 1,067 Polish citizens participating.

On the night of September 10, Poland was attacked by 19 Russian drones. Wreckage was found in several settlements, with only four drones shot down.

Afterwards, Trump and Polish President Karol Nawrocki held a phone call to discuss the Russian drone attack on Poland.
