On the night of May 17, unknown drones carried out a massive attack on the Moscow region. Russians have repeatedly complained about explosions, and before that, there were also loud sounds in occupied Crimea, according to Russian Telegram channels.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin has been reporting the alleged downing of drones since the evening of May 16. Now, during the night of the 17th, he continues to make such posts. As of 03:30 – 73 UAVs have already been shot down, and Russian air defense work continues.

Just before the new day, various monitoring public channels wrote that up to 300 unknown drones might be heading toward Russia.

After 3 a.m., footage from the Moscow region began circulating on social media, in which Russians are complaining about explosions. Specifically, residents of Klin and Zelenograd.

We also add that this night, the temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula came under a massive attack by unknown drones. It was very loud at the Kacha airfield, in Kozacha Bay, Inkerman, and Sevastopol.

However, the results of these attacks are still unknown at this time.

What preceded it

For context, a ceasefire was in effect between Ukraine and Russia from May 9 to May 11. Even though President Volodymyr Zelenskyy allowed the Russians to hold their May 9 parade, Russia decided not to extend the ceasefire after May 11. So on the night of May 14, the enemy carried out another combined strike, including on Kyiv. Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Russia's response would be mirrored.

On May 4, an unknown drone crashed into an apartment building on Mosfilmovskaya Street in Moscow. Mayor Sobyanin reported at the time that there were no casualties.
