A monument is opened in Kyiv to the Hero of Ukraine, Oleksandr Matsievskyi, who is famous worldwide for the video of his last words "Glory to Ukraine" (Slava Ukraini) before being executed by Russians, according to Zatyshne Horyshche.
The monument was installed with funds from patrons and charitable foundations
"The sculpture is almost an exact copy of the warrior and is installed within the territory of Kyiv Fortress. The deceased hero's mother was present at the unveiling. She says that from the first frame back in February, she realized that her son was in the video. The woman is proud of her son, who loved his country until the very end and defended it from Russian occupiers," the statement reads.
The monument was created with the money of patrons and charitable funds.
"He did not surrender; he looked the enemy in the eyes and called fire upon himself with the words 'Glory to Ukraine.' He glorified Ukraine to the whole world with these words," said the mother of the fallen hero at the monument's unveiling.
