Protective zones are being created along the border with Ukraine to guard against possible drone attacks. At the same time, Moldova is withdrawing border guards from joint checkpoints located on Ukrainian territory, Moldovan Interior Minister Daniella Misail-Nichitin said, according to NewsMaker.

According to the official, the authorities are trying to provide all Border Police checkpoints with the necessary protective measures. This also applies to checkpoints located directly on Ukrainian territory.

Work is currently underway along the border to set up special protective zones. They are intended to allow Border Police officers, civil servants, and civilians to quickly evacuate to a safe place in the event of danger.

At the same time, Moldova has decided to relocate its employees from joint checkpoints to its own territory.

"They have already been withdrawn from two checkpoints, but we will also withdraw others from the joint checkpoints located on Ukrainian territory. They will work on Moldovan territory," Misail-Nichitin said.

Moldova's Interior Ministry clarified that this concerns the withdrawal of employees from the joint Criva and Palanca border checkpoints.

On October 5, a projectile hit a passenger bus near the Palanca checkpoint on the Ukraine-Moldova border. A border guard was injured, while the bus and a control booth were damaged.

In addition, Ukraine will install 135 primary mobile shelters at 28 border crossing points and on the access roads leading to them. The protective structures will be installed in five border regions.
