Moldova announces agreement on partnership with EU in field of security and defense
Moldova has announced the signing of an agreement with the European Union on cooperation in the field of security and defense. This agreement will allow for the expansion of cooperation in several areas, reports NewsMaker.
In particular, the cooperation includes the following areas:
- strengthening resilience;
- cybersecurity;
- combating disinformation;
- assistance to the defense sector;
- participation in EU missions for crisis management and integrated border management.
According to the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Partnership in the field of security and defense is a political agreement on expanding cooperation. Chisinau will conclude it with the EU in the near future in accordance with the goals outlined in the National Security Strategy of our country.
"The Partnership will function as an umbrella mechanism for all cooperation measures between Moldova and the EU in areas such as assistance in strengthening the resilience of our country, cybersecurity, combating disinformation, assistance to the defense sector through the European Peace Instrument, Moldova's participation in EU crisis management missions, and integrated border management," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that during the period when Ukraine and Moldova start negotiations on EU accession, their progress will be considered separately.
