The Russian strike on Kyiv is confirmation of the "title" that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded to Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 19, according to a briefing by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhii Tkhiyi.

"A treacherous strike on Kyiv with five ballistic missiles. One could say that Putin confirmed the 'honorary title' awarded to him by the President of Ukraine yesterday," emphasized Tkhiyi.

He also reminded that the Russian forces attacked not only Kyiv but also Kherson, Kryvyi Rih, and other cities and communities during the night.

At the same time, as the spokesperson added, the Russian strike on Kyiv severely damaged a building housing several embassies.

"This is an absolutely barbaric strike by Russia on diplomatic institutions. Everywhere in the world, this crosses all possible red lines and international rules. Russia is confirming its status as an absolute barbarian," he noted.

Sharp statement from Zelenskyy

On December 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed a "high-tech duel" to Western countries. He called for the placement of Western air defense systems in Kyiv and then to strike the Ukrainian capital with an Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile.

The Kremlin leader cynically stated that such an "experiment" would be "interesting" to him.

In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called Putin a "dumb**s."
