The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has officially codified the new GYURZA-O2 armored vehicle, developed in Ukraine. This means the vehicle can now be adopted into service and supplied to units of the Defense Forces, according to the UkrArmoTech company, which is the developer of the vehicle.

According to the manufacturers, only six months passed from the initial idea to the production of the first prototypes and the completion of all necessary testing.

"Six months from concept to the first manufactured prototypes, which successfully passed the full range of trials and tests, receiving positive evaluations not only from the certification specialists of the Ministry of Defense but also from combat units," the developers stated.

One of the key features of this vehicle is its level of armor protection. According to the manufacturer, the GYURZA-O2 provides all-around protection for the crew, troops, and equipment, corresponding to Level 2/3 under NATO standard AEP-55 STANAG 4569. This means it can withstand fire from 7.62×39 mm automatic weapons, including both standard and armor-piercing rounds, as well as fragments from artillery shells.

The armored vehicle’s body features a V-shaped hull designed to withstand the detonation of an anti-tank blast mine with an explosive charge of up to 8 kg (STANAG 4569 Level 3a/b). This shape helps disperse the blast energy. In addition, the vehicle is equipped with blast-attenuating seats for both the crew and passengers, and an internal spall liner is installed to protect against secondary fragmentation.

Tactical and technical specifications of the GYURZA-O2

Earlier, we reported that the Ministry of Defense codified and approved for use by the Armed Forces of Ukraine the Zubr high-mobility armored vehicle.

The Ministry also codified and approved for operation the Oncilla-Shturm armored personnel carrier — a domestically produced vehicle capable of performing a wide range of missions.
