Ukraine's Ministry of Energy reports progress in electricity: Key impacts
The situation with electricity in Ukraine has recently improved. This is due to weather conditions, as the extreme heat of recent days is subsiding, reports Deputy Minister of Energy Mykola Kolisnyk.
"Previously, we had four stages of outages with emergency schedules due to objective reasons. The further improvement in outages is primarily related to better weather conditions, with the extreme heat subsiding according to forecasts. It is also connected to the specifics of repair campaigns at generation facilities," he said.
The Deputy Minister warned about the risks of new Russian attacks on civilian energy infrastructure.
"Currently, we have a deficit resulting from attacks, with 8 complex attacks on energy infrastructure. This results in a generation deficit of 9 gigawatts, which is a significant amount. Therefore, the task for energy workers today is to maintain the integrity of the energy system and ensure the security of electricity supply," added Kolisnyk.
Power outages in Ukraine
Daily power outages are in effect according to schedules in Ukraine. Over the past few weeks, the situation has worsened as abnormal heat has hit the country. High temperatures have led to increased electricity consumption.
It is noted that today, power outages were scheduled to be in effect all day, but Ukrenergo canceled outages from 12:00 to 15:00. Two stages of power outages are expected to be implemented in the evening.
