Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) have submitted documents to Interpol to place businessmen Tymur Mindich and Oleksandr Zuckerman, suspects in the so-called Midas corruption case in the energy sector, on an international wanted list, stated SAPO head Oleksandr Klymenko.

Asked by journalists whether the relevant materials had indeed been sent to Interpol, Klymenko confirmed: "Yes, they have been submitted."

At the same time, he clarified that there is currently no information confirming the issuance of a so-called Interpol red notice. According to Klymenko, publication of such data on Interpol’s website is not mandatory.

"There is a hidden period when a red notice is already effectively in force, but no public information about it is available yet," Klymenko explained.

The Midas case

In November, NABU and SAPO announced they had uncovered a large-scale corruption scheme in Ukraine’s energy sector. According to investigators, the scheme involved officials engaged in systematic money laundering and illicit enrichment.

Law enforcement agencies say the organizer of the scheme was businessman Tymur Mindich, a former business partner of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Another suspect in the case is 61-year-old businessman Oleksandr Zuckerman, who managed to leave Ukraine. Investigators believe he was a co-organizer of the energy-sector corruption schemes alongside Mindich and a member of a so-called back office used to launder funds.

In case materials, Zuckerman appears under the alias Sugarman. Audio recordings dated February 2025 allegedly capture him discussing the transfer of funds to then Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Chernyshov.

Recently, NABU’s central office placed both Tymur Mindich and Oleksandr Zuckerman on a wanted list. However, Zuckerman’s Israeli citizenship significantly complicates his potential extradition to Ukraine.

In addition, both individuals have been added to the Myrotvorets database. They are suspected of undermining Ukraine’s defense capability and energy security, as well as laundering illicit proceeds.
