Militant of Islamic State detained in Kyiv: What is known
The Security Service has detained a participant of the international terrorist organization Islamic State in Kyiv. He had been wanted by Interpol and was hiding from justice for 7 years, according to the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU).
It is reported that the perpetrator turned out to be a citizen of one of the Central Asian countries who illegally arrived in Ukraine using a foreign passport of a false identity even before the full-scale invasion.
Prior to this, the ISIS participant had spent a long time in the Middle East, where he was involved in smuggling militants of the terrorist organization into Syrian territory.
After arriving in Ukraine, the perpetrator attempted to hide from justice, constantly changing mobile phone numbers and addresses of rented apartments in various cities.
Later, he tried to establish a channel for the illicit legalization of individuals from countries with an increased terrorist risk in Kyiv.
SSU employees located him and detained him at his temporary residence in the capital of Ukraine.
Currently, the participant of the terrorist organization is in custody under the procedure of extradition arrest. The issue of further extraditing the detainee to his country of origin, which issued an international wanted notice for him in 2017, is being resolved.
