Kyiv made a counterproposal to Russian President Vladimir Putin after he suggested introducing "temporary administration under the auspices of the UN" in Ukraine, according to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Heorhii Tykhyi, on Twitter (X).

"Counter-offer: temporary UN governance in Russia, starting with Vorkuta. It seems that locals would benefit greatly from any governance other than Putin, who spends billions of dollars on his criminal war against Ukraine," Tykhyi noted, posting a photo of Vorkuta.

It is worth noting that Vorkuta was founded as a labor settlement for prisoners in the Soviet Union. The city is associated with the GULAG and labor camps.

Putin's statement

Earlier, on March 27, Russian President Vladimir Putin once again claimed that the government in Ukraine is supposedly illegitimate because "there were no presidential elections."

He proposed introducing "temporary administration" in Ukraine under the auspices of the UN and several countries to conduct elections. The Kremlin leader added that this would allegedly help with peace negotiations.

The Kremlin leader also stated that he "does not understand" with whom he should sign a peace agreement in Ukraine. Additionally, Putin fabricated that "neo-Nazi formations are starting to rule Ukraine."
