Meta improves calls and adds useful features in Messenger
Meta is introducing new features for its Messenger app, including noise suppression using artificial intelligence, among other updates, reports the American tech website The Verge.
What new features have appeared
Meta has announced the addition of HD video call support to its Messenger app, along with several other features, such as artificial intelligence for generating backgrounds.

HD video calls are enabled by default when connected to Wi-Fi, but they can also be activated for mobile data calls through the Call Settings menu. This menu will also include options to adjust noise suppression and change the audio output of the call. Meta states that users will now be able to leave voice or video messages as well.

Apps like Google Meet, Zoom, and FaceTime have long offered these features. The same applies to AI-generated backgrounds, at least for Zoom and Meet. To try them in Messenger, you need to click the effects icon in the call's sidebar, enter a description of your desired background, and Meta's AI will generate it for you.

Meta has also started integrating AI-generated image creation in Messenger chats, as well as on Facebook and Instagram platforms.
Finally, Meta has added the ability to make calls and send messages hands-free via Apple's Siri voice assistant. If you say something like using Messenger at the end of a Siri request, it will act as the Meta app rather than one of Apple's built-in programs.
