Met Gala 2025: 11 worst fashion looks from Costume Institute Ball

The Met Gala is an annual fashion fairytale where stars compete for the title of the most striking (or most outrageous) guest of the evening. In 2025, the dress code was called "Tailored for You," and the theme of the exhibition was "Black Dandyism." It would seem to be the perfect opportunity to showcase impeccable tailoring, style, and a personalized approach to fashion. But, as always, not all guests managed (or wanted) to match the tone. RBK-Ukraine (Styler project) offers a selection of 12 worst looks from the Costume Institute Ball Met Gala 2025. Here it will be strange, excessive, and simply "why?!"
Demi Moore
Demi Moore truly surprised this time – the actress appeared at the ball in a dress by Thom Browne which, according to the designer's idea, was supposed to resemble a necktie. But in reality, it turned out to be rather comical – the look seemed more like a joke than fashion art.

Halle Bailey
Halle Bailey also didn’t make the best choice for her look. The actress chose a blazer-dress, but instead of going for a minimalist version, which is in fashion this season, or a strict cut like other guests, she picked a flirtatious model. The added volume in the hip area was meant to create a playful mood, but unfortunately, the cut didn’t flatter the star’s figure. The shiny corset, which was supposed to make the look more festive, also didn’t deliver.

Designs with distinctly outlined cups have long gone out of fashion, and the glittery decor made the look less elegant than it could have been.
Helen Lasichanh
It seems the wife of Louis Vuitton’s creative director, Pharrell Williams, may have offended the designer – how else to explain the fact that she was made to appear in monogrammed brand tights and was even gifted a matching bag? There’s simply no other logical explanation for this look.

Sabrina Carpenter
Actress Sabrina Carpenter also appeared on the red carpet in Louis Vuitton. However, the tights didn’t make it to her, so she had to settle for just a burgundy bodysuit-tuxedo.

Dua Lipa
Dua Lipa decided to attend the ball in a long-outdated look by Chanel, which visually spoiled the entire impression. Why – remains a mystery.

Amelia Gray
Amelia Gray came to the Met Gala in such an outfit that it's even hard to find the words – the look just screamed fashion disaster.

Simone Biles
For the ceremonial event before the exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum, the athlete chose a bright blue dress by Harbison Studio, but unfortunately, it looked a bit overdone.
The dress with a high waist and a skirt with bubbles at the hem looked heavy, and the bow at the waist and long train added even more volume.

The bodice with gemstone appliqués was very bright, but overall, the look was somewhat difficult to take in.
Shakira
The most surprising look for the public was that of Shakira – on social media, people immediately started joking that the singer must have mistaken the Met Gala for her quinceañera – a celebration in Latin America symbolizing a girl’s transition to adulthood. It’s exactly at 15 that girls are expected to wear such voluminous, almost marshmallow-like dresses – but not to the Costume Institute Ball.

Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra decided to focus on a polka dot print – one of the most popular this season. It seemed like a good choice, as her look was inspired by Prince’s stage outfits. But the idea didn’t quite come through.

The suit, which was supposed to showcase refined tailoring, instead looked sloppy due to wrinkles in the fabric. And the oversized-brim hat was more distracting than stylish.
Doja Cat
At the Met Gala 2025, Doja Cat, as always, chose a bold and provocative look – a bodysuit by Marc Jacobs with striped crystal decor, a wool jacket with massive shoulders, and a velvet bodysuit with ocelot print. The look was completed by signature Kiki stiletto boots with buckles.

Conical cups, massive shoulders, and enlarged hips distorted proportions more than they created a sense of artistic style.
Jessica Kyle
The British designer decided to show off her love of floral motifs in full glory – her look on the Met Gala red carpet more resembled a hat parade at the Kentucky Derby.

Bright pink flowers on open-toe sandals, a scatter of violet buds on her legs, and a pale pink skirt turned her into a living bouquet – albeit slightly off-topic for the evening.
