Merz unveils discussion points for Zelenskyy and European leaders' talks with Trump

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders will travel to the United States to discuss peace efforts for Ukraine with President Donald Trump, according to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on X.
Merz confirmed that tomorrow, August 18, he will travel to Washington with Zelenskyy and other European heads of state and government.
"We will exchange views with US President Trump on the state of peace efforts, security guarantees, territorial issues, and further support for Ukraine," the chancellor said.
A German government spokesperson also noted to the media that the leaders may discuss maintaining sanctions pressure on Russia during their meeting at the White House.
Zelenskyy–Trump meeting
Following his meeting with the Russian dictator in Alaska, US President Donald Trump invited Zelenskyy to the White House. The meeting is scheduled for August 18.
However, ahead of that, there will be a Coalition of the Willing meeting. The Ukrainian president arrived in Brussels, where he will participate in the session.
It is known that Zelenskyy will be accompanied by European leaders during his meeting with Trump, including the German chancellor, the presidents of France and Finland, the prime ministers of the UK and Italy, the European Commission president, and the NATO secretary-general.
