Media names cause of helicopter crash with President of Iran
The cause of the aviation incident in Iran, during which President Ebrahim Raisi died, was a technical malfunction of the helicopter, according to IRNA.
"Raisi was martyred on Sunday (May 19, 2024) in a helicopter crash that happened due to technical failure while returning from Khoda," the statement said.
Also, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian, Friday Prayers leader of the city of Tabriz Mohammad Ali Al-e Hashem, East Azarbaijan Governor Malek Rahmati, the head of Raisi’s bodyguard team Mehdi Mousavi, as well as the pilots and flight crew have died as a result of the incident.
IRNA added that Ebrahim Raisi was the eighth president of Iran, elected to lead the country in the 13th presidential elections in 2021.
