Media learns when EU will present 19th sanctions package against Russia

The European Commission is set to present the 19th package of sanctions against Russia on Wednesday, September 17, according to Devdiscourse.
The new sanctions package is aimed at increasing pressure on Russia in response to its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The measures will target Russia’s shadow fleet, its banking system, and impose additional restrictions on the sale of Russian oil.
In addition, the Commission is considering the possibility of blacklisting certain banks from two Central Asian countries, as well as independent oil refineries in China, to further economically isolate Russia.
EU sanctions against Russia
The EU has already approved 18 sanctions packages against Russia following Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022 and is now working on the 19th package of measures.
The European Union has imposed sanctions on over 2,500 individuals and entities from Russia, including the country’s leadership, high-ranking officials, businessmen and oligarchs, propagandists, as well as employees and companies in the military, space, chemical, and energy sectors.
The EU renews existing sanctions every six months, which requires a unanimous decision from all 27 member states.
However, recently, Hungary has been obstructing the automatic renewal of sanctions, after Prime Minister Viktor Orbán felt supported by US President Donald Trump.
Additionally, the EU estimates that Moscow has suffered $450 billion in damages from international sanctions since 2022.
