France's 2-0 victory over Morocco in the 2026 FIFA World Cup quarterfinal was a landmark moment in Kylian Mbappé's career. After helping his team book a place in the semifinals, the 27-year-old striker also made French football history with a record no player had achieved before, according to Squawka.
France captain reaches historic milestone
Against Morocco, Mbappé was directly involved in both of France's goals. He opened the scoring with a trademark curling finish before providing the assist for Ousmane Dembélé's goal.
Those two contributions allowed the France captain to become the first player in the history of the French national team to surpass 100 goal contributions, reaching the milestone in just 104 international appearances.
His record for Les Bleus now stands at:
- 64 goals
- 37 assists

Overtaking Giroud
The 2026 World Cup has already become a record-breaking tournament for Mbappé.
In France's opening group-stage match against Senegal (3-1), he scored twice to become the all-time leading scorer in French historyofficially.
That brace saw him move past former record holder Olivier Giroud, who finished his international career with 57 goals.
Mbappé has continued to extend his lead ever since, turning nearly every appearance into another chapter of French football history.
