Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé has come very close to matching the historic achievement of legendary Cristiano Ronaldo in matches for the Royal Club.
RBC-Ukraine shares what the Frenchman needs to do to set a historic record.
Goals over the year
Thanks to a brace in the La Liga match against Athletic (3:0), the Frenchman brought his 2025 goal tally to 55.
This is the fourth-highest total in Real Madrid history. Only Ronaldo has recorded more, holding the record of 59 goals set in 2013.
Most goals for Real in a calendar year:
-
Cristiano Ronaldo, 2013 – 59 goals
-
Cristiano Ronaldo, 2012 – 58
-
Cristiano Ronaldo, 2014 – 56
-
Kylian Mbappé, 2025 – 55
-
Cristiano Ronaldo, 2015 – 54
-
Cristiano Ronaldo, 2011 – 53
Chance for a historic record
The Frenchman still has a chance to catch the legendary Portuguese before the end of the year. He needs to score four times in the four remaining Real matches in 2025.
Real’s matches in 2025:
-
7 December, Celta (La Liga)
-
10 December, Manchester City (Champions League)

Overall, this year, Kylian has scored 62 times. In addition to 55 goals for Real, he has added 7 more for the French national team.
